Sponsor a child today -
My involvement with Compassion started a long time ago - when a friend sponsored a child on my behalf with my credit card! - and since then my appreciation of the work that Compassion does has grown year by year, mostly as I have learned more about them, and seen more of their work in action firsthand.
Compassion is unique among all child sponsorship organizations in that they work solely through local indigenous churches in the developing world. What a brilliant way to do it! Allowing the church to be the church!
It's one thing to sing the songs. It's another to be confronted by the risen Christ in the face of the poor and realize this is an opportunity to serve Him (& perhaps truly worship Him).
