This started out as a completely different song, with a completely different chorus, and time helped to reshape it into what it needed to be - by borrowing from an oldie but a goodie! I’m sure a lot of us have grown up with the children’s song “He’s got the whole world in His hands”...
It’s funny how as I get older, I need to be reminded frequently of the simple truth contained in that song. Life can move at such a pace, full of the practical everyday duties that need to be fulfilled, that it seems a lot of what is important gets left behind. Even worse, I can start to believe that “getting by” is totally in my hands. A scary prospect.
The truth is that a sovereign God sees all, and is in control of all. There is a peace and comfort to be found in surrendering today to a God who already knows and guides it perfectly for His glory. And the good news is He owns tomorrow too!
